Hi, I'm Megan.
Perhaps, like me, your life's journey has led you many places. Throughout the course of my adult life, I've lived in several different states (and even spent a few years overseas), and traveled to many different countries. I've held a handful of jobs ranging from high school English teacher to Executive Assistant, from non-profit Communications Director to Logistics Officer.
I have held a love of photography across these years and careers. What began as a dabble with digital photography in 2005 budded during 3 years as a studio photographer and blossomed into a part-time gig starting in 2007. The joy of working with clients from behind the lens has continued to grow, and in 2022, Megan Hilton Photography became a reality. I'm now in Northern Virginia (NOVA), and I have the beautiful opportunity to meet new families and faces as I dig in roots here, just west of DC. Throughout all this time, I've had the pleasure and honor of capturing moments and events, of making you smile, and of finding ways to let you shine through photographs. How many pictures do I get?
This depends on the length of your session. For family/children sessions, you'll choose 7-35 images depending on your package - chosen out of a proof gallery of about 40-80 photos. Selected images are delivered via download. Additional photos can be purchased from the proof gallery.
Why do you require a deposit?
Your retainer (like a deposit) ensures that I can hold your time and date on my calendar. Unfortunately, without a retainer, many people feel they can "no-show," which wastes time and preparation that could have been used for a paying client. Retainers are non-refundable but go toward the total fee for your photography session. In the event of weather or sickness, it can be applied to a rescheduled date.
Can you recommend locations and outfits?
YES! In our communications, we will select a location; I have several favorites here in Northern Virginia but love finding new venues, too. Please share if you have a place in mind! I'll give tips and recommendations on outfits via email about a week before your session. Neutrals are a go-to; avoid busy/bold patterns, choose coordination over matching, and pick comfortable (including footwear) and weather-appropriate items.
When will we get our photos?
Within 2 weeks from your session, you will receive an online proof gallery link to all your photos. You will be able to download a set number of the images and use them as you choose - print them out, share them on social media, etc. (please tag me!).
Where are you based? Do you travel?
I'm in Loudoun County, VA - specifically Ashburn. Yes, I will travel within reason for sessions. I love photographing in homes or favorite/special locations. For locations more than a 30 minute drive, from my home will have an additional travel fee of $30; more than an hour is a $70 fee. This helps to cover the additional time and costs incurred.
Do you offer printing?
YES! Once you have your final gallery, you will have the option to download and print on your own OR go through my website and print. I use Mpix as my printer, so you'll receive prints from a high quality, professional photo lab based in the US. Prints will be shipped directly to you! You will have full printing rights to take your digital photos from our session and make them into the art and tangible memories that best fit your personality and wall space.
