Doyle Family - Extended Session
A Thanksgiving Treat
With family, holidays can be overwhelming. Visiting out of state, hosting in your home, having guests in and out, coordinating schedules, and preparing for everyone being together. Sometimes, we forget to stop and be IN the moment. I forgot to take a picture of the Thanksgiving meal that my husband and I prepared this year - and I even said I wanted to an hour before we sat down to eat. But in the bustle, being present really is the key. For the Doyle family, taking a few moments to celebrate being together took on the form of a photo session.
This was no ordinary "extended family" session - it was a surprise for the grandparents! The coolest part was that they didn't find out until I showed up at Lovettsville Community Park, with everyone else ready to go in coordinating outfits. It was a sweet moment as they realized why they were there, the Saturday after Thanksgiving, sitting in a parking lot with some very CHILLY weather just outside the doors. I was so impressed with how the family braved the cold temperatures and the brisk wind! Three adult siblings had gathered their families together as a gift for their own parents, and with everyone already together for the. holiday, this was the moment to capture.
We did some very quick posing down by the pond at the park with everyone together - just 2 poses. There was no "warm up" period by way of weather, but we did get smiles warming up as we broke into some smaller groups. Each family had a photo together, the grandparents with the grandkids, and then with their adult children. Once we got to just the grandkids alone, the smallest grand was done with the cold - and who can blame him! At 15 months old, there's only so much wind that can be tolerated. Even though it was a fast session, we were able to capture a lot of great smiles and groups!
