A Tiny Shining Personality
Birthday photo sessions are one of the main bookings I get between January and June. Little Eloise's mom reached out through social media to capture her sweet little one's first birthday. We talked through details (and her answers on the intake questionnaire were so helpful for planning!), and we booked a date!
On the day of the photo shoot, I arrived early to set up equipment. Typically, when families have other children that will be part of the session, we start with the whole family photo so that the others can be "released" during the infant's solo time and cake smash. Partly, this keeps the littlest one clean before the messy cake, but this time, mom wanted to start with the cake. A notoriously "neat" eater, Eloise didn't disappoint! She was cautious about eating, but after a little encouragement from her big brother, mouthfuls of mom's homemade cake with cream cheese frosting were being ingested.
My favorite part about doing these first was that instead of the one year old being "done" with the photo session, tired, or hungry, Eloise was ready to go! She gave huge smiles and shared her big personality in her adorable tiny face - expressions and body language were SO cute! On request, we kept the background simple for the whole session, although I did bring options just in case. A basic white, keeping a clean feel to the images, allowed the focus to be on the faces and family. I love how these turned out!
At the end of the session, for a bit of variety, we went out to the back porch for a few more family images. Some quick posing with everyone, a few with just mom and just dad, and the session came to a close. I loved being welcomed in to this warm and cozy home, getting to meet Eloise and her brother, mom, and dad; everyone was prepared for the time together and brought their A game with smiles and attitudes. Happy birthday, Eloise! I look forward to seeing you grown through the years.
