The Bushway Family
All Things New
There's been a beauty in this last season as I work with families - returning clients and new ones like the Bushways. There's a shift from complex set ups to a more simple focus: the family. It's always been about capturing the relationships for me - no matter the backdrop. For this family, we opted for an outdoor session right at home!
I worked with my client beforehand, discussing options for photographing her new son, an adorable six month old. She preferred at home, but with a new home, lots of boxes, and not much else, we came down to 2 options: indoor studio set up (backdrop and lighting) or outdoor. When I arrived, it was clear we had plenty to work with! The front porch offered shade, cozy seating, neutral colors, and a few different angles, and there was even a fan, which added a bit of relief to the humid day. After taking a few test photos with lighting, we were ready to begin.
Little Connor stole the spotlight with his chubby cheeks and leg rolls. As grandma noted, it's the only time in life you can get away with it and have everyone love it! His expressions were priceless, and mom and dad worked magic with crinkly toys and goofy faces behind me to help pull out some smiles. The joy of Connor was clear - everyone adored him, and he was showered with smooches, tickles, and snuggles for the full 20 minutes. With a small space, but easy options, I was able to capture photos of just Connor, a few different family poses, and some of the little boy with just mom and just dad, too!
Mom clearly knew her little boy well. We hit the 20 minute mark for the session end, and Connor was done - squirmy and ready for some air conditioning and a nap. We wrapped up, letting grandma and grandpa enjoy some snuggle time while I gave the next steps to mom. I'm so glad to have been welcomed in to this new home and new family! Thank you for trusting me with some precious memories of you all!
