A New Season Ushered In
If October in Virginia has been anything this year, it's been ALL over the place! My poor thermostat has been ping-ponging between heat and A/C, my attempts to dress for the weather seem to fail most days, and fall just kinda happened. It's hard to believe that it's the last day of October, and that the leaves are falling in good measure already - bare branches beginning to hint at the next season. This maternity session was just that - an ushering in of a new season for the Dyrud Family. In a last-few-days plea, Fargol reached out on a Facebook group looking for a session within the week. I was able to answer the call, and this pregnant mama let me come into her home at 39 weeks!
I traveled a bit to get to the family's home - just about an hour. Sometimes, the right session and the right client are worth that drive. Fargol answered the door looking like a glowing mama, but I knew she was tired. We'd talked about how she didn't have the energy to get all gussied up and load the family (including a 3 year old!) into the car to go to a studio or get glammed up with hair and make up. I get that. An in-home session offered what she needed: a bit of personal space, no travel time, and no need to pretend to be anything other than she was. That's exactly what I hope to provide all my clients - encouragement to be genuine and know that such beauty shines more clearly in the resulting photos.
I met the whole family, and we started in the living room together. Delnava was 100% ready - I'm sure she would have rocked the whole session by herself if given the opportunity! And, of course, she's going to be a princess for Halloween! There was such a tenderness to the interactions with everyone - calm, loving, and just on the cusp of a new adventure together. This new baby will be bringing a new dynamic and a new season, but this family is ready for the change.
We went outside to the backyard for the second set of photos. The fall colors just popped with the Prince Williams Forest right behind them! A few family photos, some of mom and dad together, and then some of just Fargol. These are stunning: a mama literally days away from holding a baby standing there, holding him in her womb, only a thin layer between the two worlds. A change is coming - a beautiful and precious one. Welcome to the world, little one, and congratulations, Dyrud family! I can't wait to see you all as a family of four very soon <3
