A Spring Celebration
The joy of celebrating is in those who come to celebrate with you. In a slightly chilly, but finally sunny Spring day just before Easter, it's the perfect time to join together to celebrate a baptism! It was an honor to work with this family once again and capture some moments - candid and formal - to commemorate the day for their littlest.
Family and friends abounded, filling the home and yard with conversation, activity, and laughter. Some family came from many states away, and old family friends made the trip to celebrate together alongside some not-so-far-away guests. Godparents and grandparents mingled and chatted. Among the food, the Easter basket goodies, and the games, we stopped to gather some individual family photos for everyone, too. Three of these families have known each other a long time, and the fun and cajoling made it clear that they knew each other quite well!
Once the "obligatory" (at least for the eye-rolling children anxious to get back to fun) photos were over, there was baseball and chocolate. The star of the afternoon, however, was a large piñata, full of goodies for all the kiddos to take a crack at. And that, they did! Watching the littlest ones with an unwieldy bat brought smiles, and the older ones had looks of concentration as the piñata would swing out of the bat's reach just in time. The adults did well keeping everyone safe and letting everyone have a turn before the candies, filled plastic eggs, and other snacks poured out for the taking.
This picturesque day in Northern Virginia was a blessing to capture as this family celebrated the baptism of their daughter. It was a day full of joy, and the smiles and sounds of the afternoon were the proof of love and happiness surrounding the event. It was an honor to work alongside these families!
