Adding to the Family
Sometimes, mamas need to be encouraged. I consider it part of my work to be that encouragement when I can - especially for tired mamas who just want a family photo, or don't feel like they can be in front of the camera, or don't know if there's time to fit in a photo session amid all the craziness of life. You can! We slipped in this beautifully sweet maternity session in between bed rest, baby showers, and weekday plans. For this lovely mama, time was short, doctor's orders meant the session had to be quick, and we didn't want to be too far from home just in case.
The backyard was perfect! No need to leave home at all, and we had plenty of options for backgrounds that will also hold reminders of home: the trees of the backyard, shooting photos next to the playset, and being barefoot in her own yard where the kids will grow up playing. I had the privilege of photographing this family's pregnancy announcement last year, and I've been keeping tabs to see the journey for this new little boy to add to the family (all boys!). We set up in the backyard, and in a short and simple session, we captured the beauty of this family of three and the anticipation of being four so soon. Big brother will be such a fun older sibling, full of energy, but also full of joy and love. I was so happy to be able to fit in photos of just mom, some of mom and dad, a few with mama and her kiddo, and a few of the whole family!
While I've been working on their gallery, this family welcomed their new baby boy! I am so thrilled, and hope that these precious images of the last bit of mama's journey through a long pregnancy are sweet memories to look back on. Congratulations, and I can't wait to meet the little one!
