Room to Run
Boys. Being a boy mom is an identity all its own - a badge of honor often worn with exhaustion, battles of grass stains and mud pies, and the small flower bouquets and gigantic hugs that make it all worth while. For the Yeager family, we doubled up! Four year old twin boys were the highlight of this session, along with some family shots, at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park in Chantilly, VA. Mom and I connected via email after she'd seen a recommendation online (these make my heart so happy!), and found a location between us that would be suitable for some fall photos.
This was my first session at the park, and I know I'll be back! We spent our time around the pond along Walney Road, but there were several other locations at the park with a lovely variety of options for future sessions. The pond allowed some boundaries as well as a clear "path" to corral the boys as we went through the session. We started with family photos, then some of just the boys, and then let them go until we hit the next clearing near the pond, conveniently right were one of the boys spotted a grasshopper hanging out on some of the plant life. Dad mentioned that the boys running off was a concern in previous photo sessions; I let him know that I'm a boy mom, happy to let them burn off energy and still be close enough to call them for photos. The boys were great - good listeners, such big smiles, and their personalities were so bright! I snapped a few candid shots throughout and as we walked along the path, and then ended at a small bridge over one end of the pond.
The individuals of the boys here are too cute! The hands in the pockets, the grins, and the slicked hair... oh, my. I asked to do a few more family photos, and some of just mom and dad, and then we ended with some big running-hug candids before we'd looped back to the cars around the pond. I had a lot of fun with the Yeager family, and I look forward to capturing your joy and energy again soon! Thank you!
