Falling for Autumn
With a bit of up and down weather this autumn (50s and 80s... my poor wardrobe can't figure it out!), catching the fall foliage has been a bit more tricky than usual. For the Fuentes family, we were able to get some striking colors at the Broadlands Wetland Preserve last weekend, with some beautiful saturation! This family is a returning client, and I love working with them. I was blessed to capture maternity images for them last spring, and now this little guy is part of the family photo!
The Broadlands Preserve is a bit unusual. No real sign, just a gravel pull off opposite the entrance to a Harris Teeter. Once you walk along the path, there's a whole lot more going on. A beautiful bridge, an overlook with water (and ducks, and turtles, and fish!), and paths that weave around the outside of the preserve. It's peaceful and tucked away, and yet there are always people there, walking dogs or getting a bit of fresh air with grandkids. When we decided to meet here, we kept our fingers crossed for some colors left on the trees, and we got it! Chloe and Gabe worked tirelessly to get their little one to crack a smile, though his big eyes and serious expression looked too cute to me. We started with some family poses in a few locations (along with their dog), and then captured some of just mommy and the babe, just daddy and his son, and some of the littlest all by himself. He LOVED the leaves, and his outfit was perfect for the colors - a navy blue against the browns, oranges, and yellows.
I'm grateful to be able to watch families grow over the years I work with them, and this one is special. I consider Chloe a friend, and being able to walk alongside her in life as well as documenting some special moments is a blessing. I hope these bring you smiles, and I hope you continue to love on that little guy as he grows!
