Soft and Sweet

Y'all - this session was so very sweet! As another mom in part of my The Mom Co group here locally, it was an honor to be able to meet the whole family for this session. The Mom Co is an international organization that exists to support and encourage moms. My local group has been a lifeline and the first real community I felt as a mom; we all need that support!

Mom did a fantastic job with outfits: I've been a huge fan of the sage green and blush pink combo for a while now, and adding them to neutrals for this fall session captured the warmth and hues of the surroundings as well as the family vibe. The oldest was such a quiet trooper, happy to let me pose him and get some super sweet smiles. We started with the whole family together, as this tends to help little ones acclimate a bit quicker, and then we moved on to a few different poses. I was so happy to be able to catch some of just the boys, along with some individuals and some of just the kiddos. Dads don't often want to be part of the family photo session fanfare, so it's a genuinely sweet moment when I can capture a few of just him and the little ones - especially with real smiles!

The littlest here had a moment in the middle of our time together, but she really did pull it together! After mom soothed her, she plopped right down in big brother's lap and had TONS of fun trying to eat the leaves. We ended our quick mini session with a casual stroll down the path at Claude Moore Park, and everyone left smiling.

It's these sorts of sessions, where you get the real mixed in with posing and pulling out smiles and adjusting clothing or jewelry, that remind me of how important it can be to have other moms around to remind them that they really ARE doing a great job. There are no Pinterest perfect photo sessions behind the scenes, babies get cranky, kids don't always behave. For many moms, scheduling the family for a 15 minute photo session can feel like a chore, but the memories really are worth it. Here's to the moms - I see you, and you're making it work.
