All About the Kid
What a sweet pleasure it was to meet Dori, Mike, and little Max last weekend! It was a very full day of sessions for me, and Dori and I worked together ahead of time to plan a location for the photo session that would work well, especially with a little one's schedule to keep. As a mom, I totally get it, and we were able to agree on Claude Moore Park in Sterling, VA. This park offers great natural settings as well as options for backdrops like a gray wood barn, white house, stone house, and benches, all fairly close together, which works for those family sessions with little kids who don't have much of an attention span!
While we walked to our first location at the park, Dori and I chatted about her 14 month old son, who was quite wary of me, but curious. The main goal for the session was to get a "decent" family photo - as long as he looked good, the relatives would be happy! Mom brought along some props to help with smiles, and from the get-go, we were able to get some truly adorable photos of little Max. I slipped in some family poses along the way, and a few more casual options to showcase his awesome walking skills, too!
We stopped at the pond for some pictures, my favorite highlighted Max and his favorite book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" Then we moved along to the gray barn (amidst a horde of other photographers doing awesome work!) to compliment the outfit colors, and finally, a few with some fields and more open space. All along the way, mom and dad played, tickled, hugged, and loved on their little boy - a love that was a joy to witness and capture!
All in all, I think we checked the box for the session goals - some lovely family photos, and a whole bunch of the star of the show: little Max! It was a pleasure to meet you all and to help you capture some precious memories for your family. Thank you!
