A New Fan...

Teeny tiny fingers, sleepy yawns, and everything little... that's what newborn sessions are made of! This ten day old little boy came into this world just a day after Valentine's Day, adding so much love to his family, and I had the privilege of meeting him so soon! Mama and I connected and were able to plan a session just a few days beforehand, connecting on outfits, props, and backdrops all within that time. Dog - Aria/ Rutgers

In-home newborn sessions are full of lots of movement - packing up, then bringing props and equipment inside, setting up, and getting to know the family dynamic. As I entered the family home, I was greeted by the most energetic 3 year old big sister, ready for her pictures, and eager to show me all of her toys! A friendly pooch had to come and say hello, too, and then we got to work. Once I was set up, the flurry of activity settles down to a more quiet tone, ready for some warmth for the newborn. We started Baby C's session, wrapped up in cozy blue/gray tones. He was so chill all bundled up! We added big sister in for a few photos, too, and then moved on, trying for some naked shots, which took a bit more time (as is natural and normal!) - some feeding, some shushing, and mama snuggles.

A family portrait was on the list of priority shots, so that came next. Mom and Dad, adding in our three year old star, and then individuals of each parent with Baby C in a soft blue romper - so scrunchy, and definitely not a super sleepy newborn. He wanted to see the action, and he made sure to tell us when he needed a snack and cuddles! A few more requested outfits were fit in, and we even captured a sleeping baby bear in the process. I did sneak in a few solo photos of the precocious big sister - she will steal the spotlight, and we had the time and space for it (besides, her smile LIT up the room...) - just adding a few more memories to the session.

At the very end, at the parents' request, a few photos of this newest Eagles fan wrapped it all up! I had such a great time getting to know this lovely family, chatting about family, moving to Virginia, three-year-old life (I have one, too!), and so much more. All in all, this two hour in-home newborn session allowed for a great variety while also giving plenty of time for transitions, feeding, and calming Baby C as we went. The smiles were genuine, the care they took with this precious little boy was touching, and I enjoyed every moment.
