Old Traditions and New Life
I love babies. I also just happen to love photographing babies, too! I'm blessed to have wonderful clients who allow me into their homes for a short time to capture teeny tiny details in the midst of bringing a new life into a family. This little baby boy was only 17 days old when I crossed the threshold and set up in the living room. Baby gates had been pushed aside, toys packed into boxes, and a space cleared for me to put a backdrop and lighting. We chatted as I set up, talking about being boy moms (she also has an older son).
When it was time to start, little Rihaan came in, a bit confused but drowsy. We popped him into his first wrap, made sure he was warm, and sleep soon set in. Baby R got out a few toots (and more) after our first set, so I changed backdrops while mama changed him. Then it was right back into a wrap. I was able to capture so many sweet little poses as he dreamed away. Feet in & feet out in wraps, a non-wrapped lounge, a barrel wrap, adding in a teeny teddy, and more! The best part of this was incorporating poses and props that were meaningful for mama and the family. A special handmade blanket and a pair of crocheted baby booties made by mom! These items were part of big brother's photos when he was a newborn, and it was such a sweet gesture to include them this time around. We made sure to give Rihaan his own unique images, too!
I always add in time for family photos for my sessions. So often, these groups or groupings are forgotten in the focus on a child or children. We didn't skip any of the options this time around, though! Mama with her littlest, and Dad got his turn, too. Then we did a full family pose, some of Dad with the two boys, some of Mom with both littles, and a few (very) quick photos of the two boys together. With a camera full of photos and hearts full of smiles, we wrapped up the session with Rihaan still sleeping. I can't wait to see how quickly you grow, little one!
