Little Boy Blue

Newborn sessions are quickly becoming my favorite! I love helping new parents show off their family addition, showcase their love, and pour adoration out of every pore. I love getting the chance to cuddle little feet, help soothe them to sleep, and capture adorable images for these families. For Melisa, we connected early via email, talked about my portfolio (she even picked out images she really liked), and set a time with a "just in case" date for her session. Baby boy arrived a week earlier than planned, which allowed us to keep our original session date. Because of mama's planning, I had everything set to go with background and wrap options.

All of my newborn sessions are "in-home." This means I bring backdrops, props, studio lighting, and even outfits to the client's home and do everything from there. We can get nursery shots, lifestyle images, or the more traditional studio photos all at once, and the family can get new outfits, feed the baby, and not need to worry about traveling to a studio or missing a nap window.

Melisa and Spencer's home was a small apartment space, but even here, we had enough room to set up everything we needed. While an adoring grandma and grandpa looked on, we set up in the nursery (and kept on the lookout for a hiding pet cat). Baby Theo decided not to sleep, so I was able to capture his big, beautiful eyes and some super cute expressions while he marveled at the world. We included a special outfit that Melisa picked out, which worked so well with the neutrals, blues, and grays of the backdrops and her home. Along with some wraps and a beige pants/hat set, mama helped me pair up colors that she preferred as we went along. There was ample time for soothing, feeding, and outfits changes during her Classic session, so no one felt rushed - even Theo!

At the end, we took down the backdrops and opted for a more natural setting on the couch for family pictures. Theo had finally worn himself out and was asleep, and the cat made a reappearance (though he opted not to be photographed). A few with mom and dad, a few with the grandparents, and some of each parent with baby Theo wrapped up our time together.

I'm so glad I could meet you, Theo! Welcome to the world, and I can't wait to watch you grow!
