Emmie's Newborn Session - Sok Family
Simple Joys
During the last few years, I've found a special enjoyment in photographing families over time. Building relationships, encouraging moms, and capturing real, authentic life and moments are pivotal in my business model. Having the privilege of meeting a family, taking photos as the children grow, and becoming "the family photographer" are marks of success! For little Emmie, her family had worked with me for some sweet and simple backyard photos for Mom's maternity session. Just a bit later, and here we are with a new set of tiny toes for the family!
Emmie was a bit hesitant to fall asleep at the start - big bright lights, a new face, and swaddles were too interesting and different. We rolled with it, since she was still very calm, and captured some cute images at the outset. Once she had a mid-session snack, she settled right in, and we worked quickly to change backgrounds and wraps for some variety. Mom had requested more simple sets - nothing to elaborate or with lots of props. As I brought along a tote full of options, she picked out what she liked, which made the session a bit more personal to her style. Big sister Josie stayed close too, clearly enamored with the whole process. She even brought in her own camera to help me!
Once we wrapped up (no pun intended!) Emmie's spotlight time, we added in the family - Josie, Mom and Dad. A quick backdrop change to fit everyone in, and we were good to go. I made sure to include a few poses, breakdown some with just Mom and the girls, and some with little Emmie and just Mom and Dad. Mom requested to bring grandma in for a few, too - and we did!
Just like that, a new little life changes the family. It grows, it adds joy, and brings a new light. I'm honored that you invited me back to your home to capture these tender and simple images of your lovely family! Thank you for trusting me.
