Love Multiplied
There's little that compares to the joy of a new bundle of arms and legs that is fresh into this world. A newborn holds so much potential in such a small package, just waiting to be opened, waiting to grow and learn and take in the world. It will always be an honor to be chosen as the family photographer, especially at these special moments. This month, I got to take newborn photos of my second niece - just three weeks new. While the family is still adjusting to all the changes in sleep and routines, we stole away a little time during a quick visit to capture these first weeks before they slip away, all too fast!
Newborn sessions can be tough - they require time, patience, and temperature control. These little lives have big needs, so diaper changes, feedings, outfit swaps, and posing all take longer than one might expect. We added a space heater to the room to make sure she wasn't too cold and would fall asleep (she did eventually), little feet were held to ensure she felt safe and relaxed, and swaddling took a few tries, but the patience paid off! While there were a few bumps at the beginning (who likes being passed around and thrown into various baskets during nap time anyway...), this little girl was a champ - and the images are the proof!
While prepping for this session, I packed up my car with a variety of options: props for the cutesy stuff, background of all colors, a little bear outfit, and studio lighting. You never know what the weather might be in Western NY, so it all came along! We were able to use my indoor in-home setup without the lighting equipment thanks to a large sliding glass door in the room we were shooting in. Natural light plus the studio backdrops gave a wonderful, soft feel to the images.
The sweetness of this session time was truly a joy. My niece was cooperative, and she let me pose those teeny fingers and toes! Once she was asleep, we were able to swap outfits, backgrounds, and props to round out these image options - and show off both the props and the most adorable little girl around these days! (I might be a little biased). I'm honestly so excited to share these photos - for her family to have these memories for a lifetime; for the joy I had in taking and editing the pictures; for the life of this little one welcomed into our family. Welcome to the world!
