Yara's Personality Session - The Amini Family
A Growing Personality
A year ago, I met little Yara and her family in an apartment, setting up for a personality mini session for the almost two year old. She met me at the door with a smile and a "Hi," which was the perfect opening for the session! This year, when her mom reached out to do another personality session, I was so excited to see how she'd grown. With a full year gone by, the family had moved to a (gorgeous!) single family home with more space for the family. I was met at the door with a much more wary Yara, fully aware that something different was happening with someone she certainly didn't remember. With a lovely welcome from Mom and Grandma, we found the right spot to set up as we allowed Yara to warm up to the idea.
As a full "mini" session with 20 minutes, we had enough time to do 2 backgrounds for Yara's big personality. We started with white - so that the photos would match last year's background - and a tentative Yara, not quite ready to let go of Grandma's hand. Slowly, but surely, with the help of some fun toddler songs and some jumping music, more smiles came out. Pigtails flying, and a very determined toddler jumping about, I captured some great images before we moved on.
For the second backdrop, Yara got to pick - PINK! Clearly a favorite, and a great choice to compliment her ivory dress. Now the trick was to move from jumping to smiling. We played with various toys, and I was brought all kinds of fun toy kitchen food items now that I was a safe bet for interactions. We almost lost it when Mom said no to the baby doll stroller being in the photos, but Grandma helped reel it all back, and we ended with more adorable expressions and smiles.
I love ending sessions with children by inviting the mom to hop in for a photo - even if she doesn't feel ready. Moms are so rarely part of the photo that a quick capture with a hug or kiss is sometimes a significant lasting memory to hold on to for later days. Mom happily jumped in, even while very pregnant, and the session wrapped up.
I'm so grateful for return clients who trust me to capture these sorts of milestones and moments! Thank you for your warm hospitality, and I can't wait to share more images with you!
